Modern Russian History and Culture: Northern Discussion Group

Modern Russian History and Culture: Northern Discussion Group is a CEELBAS-funded initiative which is organised jointly by Dr Miriam Dobson (Sheffield) and Dr Rachel Platonov (Manchester). The NDG aims to provide a forum for scholars across a range of disciplines, who share an interest in aspects of Russian culture, history and society from the late 19th century to the present. The NDG meets once per semester, alternating between Sheffield and Manchester. At these sessions, an atmosphere of informal debate and exchange is encouraged; and participation by postgraduate students and by people wishing to present work in progress is warmly welcomed. Our most recent workshop, on religion, identity and belief in Russia, was held in Sheffield on 10 June 2009.
