Translation Studies Seminars
CTIS has been running a weekly research seminar series since 1997, each year inviting 15-18 speakers from the UK and abroad to present aspects of their current research. We design our programme each year to cover a wide range of topics, specialisms and languages. Those who attend have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the most recent studies in the fields of translation, interpreting and intercultural studies and to meet some of the leading scholars in those disciplines. All are welcome; attendance is free of charge and it isn't necessary to register in advance.
View the seminar schedule for 2011-12.
Venue: In Semester 2 the seminars take place on Thursday afternoons, 2pm to 3.20pm in Room A113 in the Samuel Alexander Building, University of Manchester. If consulting the campus map, you'll find the Samuel Alexander Building marked as no. 67.
Receiving reminders of the seminars: We send seminar abstracts to our mailing list on a weekly basis, in advance of each seminar. Email your name and address to siobhan.brownlie@manchester.ac.uk if you would like to join the mailing list for these and other CTIS announcements.
We post short announcements of the seminar titles on Twitter (@ctismanchester) and abstracts of upcoming seminars on our Facebook page.
Our full set of seminar schedules is available via the left-hand navigation menu - they offer an interesting insight into the development of the field over the past decade or so!
We also run a Professional Development Workshop series for our MA students, delivered by specialists from the language services sector and focusing on the latest professional practices in translation, interpreting, subtitling, etc.
