Transnational Lecture Series
Literary and Cultural Transfers and Exchanges: From the National to Transnational Blocks
The "Institute for Transnational Studies in Languages, Linguistics and Cultures" (ITS) would like to invite you to the second event of the "Transnational Lecture Series" to be delivered by
Professor José Luís Jobim (State University of Rio de Janeiro / Federal University of Rio de Janeiro / CNPq)
Date: 10 February 2009
Time: 5 pm
Place: Samuel Alexander Building, Room A101
Discussants: Professor John Gledson (University of Liverpool) and Daniel Serravalle de Sá (University of Manchester)
In Professor Jobim's words: "Literary studies have traditionally adopted disciplinary divisions founded on national criteria. (...) On the threshold of the 21st Century, we are witnessing the emergence and consolidation of transnational blocks of nations, more or less formalised, which give a new meaning to literary and cultural transfers and exchanges. Our aim, then, is to discuss the meaning of these new issues, without forgetting their relationship with others we have already posed."
Wine reception will follow
