Representations of the Past: The Writing of National Histories in Europe (NHIST)

The programme is the collaborative effort of over one hundred leading scholars from more than 20 European countries. Its agenda will be implemented by four teams. The principle programme output is the ground-breaking six-volume 'Writing the Nation' series to be published by Palgrave Macmillan between 2007 and 2009. However, each team is also producing a number of other complimentary publications which further development many of themes of the NHIST programme. Furthermore, a number of publications will also emerge from the three cross-team conferences held between 2004-6, and two special NHIST editions of the respected journal, Storia della Storiografia have also been published.
