Postgraduate taught courses in French Studies
MA students in French Studies can design their own tailor-made programme within our new research-route MA in Languages and Cultures. Students may specialise in any of the research specialisms offered by staff in French Studies, covering an exciting and diverse range of cultural activity from the early Middle Ages to the 21st century and including: European children's literature; theatre, dance and performance; popular music; French in the world; gender and sexuality; cinema; Holocaust studies; medieval and Renaissance studies; the study of book form and illustration. French Studies in Manchester is especially strong across the wide-ranging field of visual studies.
Our new research-route MA in Languages Cultures replaces the subject-specific and thematic MA pathways which were previously available on the MA in European Languages and Cultures. For full details of the programme, see MA in Languages and Cultures.
Full a full listing of staff research interests in French Studies, see our research pages.
Alternatively, students with an interest in language, linguistics, or translation and interpreting, or with an interest in more professionally oriented MA programmes, may pursue French topics within the following taught MA programmes:
MA Intercultural Communication
MA Translation and Interpreting Studies
