MA students in Russian and East European Studies can design their own tailor-made programme within our new research-route MA in Languages and Cultures. Students may specialise in any of the research specialisms offered by staff in Russian and East European Studies, covering a wide range of topics in Russian and East European cultures, cultural politics and the intellectual history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. They include:  all aspects of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Russian literature nationalism and national identity in Russia and Eastern Europe; Soviet and post-Soviet film and media; Russian women's studies; Cultural aspects of the post-communist transition; Polish cultural studies; Russian and East European intellectual history; Literature and culture of the Balkans; Medieval Slavic culture.

Our new research-route MA in Languages Cultures replaces the subject-specific and thematic MA pathways which were previously available on the MA in European Languages and Cultures. For full details of the programme, see MA in Languages and Cultures.
