Postgraduate research programmes in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies

In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise 30% of the research carried out in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies was deemed to be 'world-leading', and a total of 75% as 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'. Our research covers the study of national and transnational cultures, histories, societies, languages, literature and visual cultures in the Portuguese and Spanish-speaking world. It covers a chronological range from the Medieval to the present day whilst cluster centred on the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Recent postgraduates supervised by members of staff in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies have worked on a variety of topics in areas such as the examples below show, for further information on Ph.D. supervision, check the staff list. Please also check the MDCSN postgraduates section. Postgraduate and research students are encouraged to take part in research seminars and conferences organised by Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and the Centre for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
