2+2 Programme
This programme is for students who are in their second year at one of our carefully selected partner institutions in China. After completing your second year you then spend 2 years studying in Manchester allowing you to combine the strengths of both a Chinese and English degree.
Students enter onto year 2 of one of the following degree programmes:
- BA (Hons) English Language
- BA (Hons) English Language and Screen Studies
- BA (Hons) Linguistics
- BA (Hons) Linguistics and Sociology
- BA (Hons) Linguistics and Social Anthropology
- BA (Hons) Linguistics and Screen Studies
You will be taught by world-renowned academic staff with expertise in areas such as English dialects, business English, linguistics of American English, language contact, gender and language, TESOL and more.
Any student form one of our partner institutions who is currently in their 2nd year who has studied at least 3 of the following topics:
- English grammar
- English phonetics
- English phonology
- History of English
- Lexicology
- Stylistics
- Introduction to Linguistics
- Contrastive Studies of English and Chinese
You will need to achieve an average grade of 75% in the core modules for your 2 years in China and achieve an overall band score of 7.0 in IELTS (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.

Please note that you will be required to meet certain pre-requisites and may be required to attend preparatory courses before the academic year begins.
