Undergraduate study in Italian Studies
Italian teaching has a long history at Manchester, and currently there are six permanent full-time members of staff in Italian, all of whom provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduates. In addition there are two native-speaker language tutors, and you will find that they, and the thirty or so exchange students from Italy, help to give the corridor where the offices of Italian Studies are located a feeling of being a 'Little Italy'.
The John Rylands University Library, which has recently undergone a major restoration on its Deansgate site, is one of the best-endowed libraries in the country, in particular as far as its resources for Italian and other modern languages are concerned. We also have access to Italian television (RAI Uno and RAI Tre) through a satellite link, both in our seminar room and in the University Language Centre.
