PhD title: The Intonation Contours of Jaminjung, an Australian Language.
Supervisor: Dr Eva Schultze-Berndt
Main Discipline area: Linguistics
Research specialism
My research aims at describing the prosodic system of the Australian language Jaminjung, including word stress, the intonation contours for different sentence types such as questions and commands, and the interaction of intonation and other markers of information structure such as special particles and word order. I have conducted fieldwork in the Victoria River District, in the Northern Territory, as part of the "Jaminjungan and Eastern Ngumpin" Project funded by the Volkswagen foundation.
